RFT reverberation chamber successfully delivered

In late May 2018, the reverberation chamber of the School of Mechanical Engineering of Southeast University, which was built by RuiFeng RF Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (RFT), was successfully delivered. This is oscillating wall stirrer reverberation chamber in China.

Oscillating system is the more widely used in reverberation chambers. Of course, there are many other types of oscillating excitation methods, such as frequency, source and oscillation. The purpose of the oscillating is to change the characteristic conditions of the volume to achieve different modes of the volume under different excitation conditions. At the same time, by changing the geometry of the volume by rotating and oscillating the stirrer system, different modes can be successfully excited.

The difference between the rotation and the oscillation is that the rotary stirrer is rotated 360 degrees, however, the oscillating wall stirrer moves from point A to point B. Both approaches achieve the same goal, as well as sufficient modes excitation, which can be verified by field uniformity calibration. At the same time, the two methods are equally applied to the oscillating mode and the tuning mode.

Highlights of the project:

The external of the reverberation chamber is welded by galvanized steel panels according to customer requirements, and the interior of the reverberation chamber is flat galvanized steel sheet. All the steel panels are standard sizes of modules, and through special methods to overcome the deformation caused by welding. These module templates are available to provide various possible sizes of shielding, and the shield accessories, such as the cut-off waveguides and access panels, can be constructed flexible and tailored to each customer’s specific requirement.

The Netherlands COMTEST oscillating wall stirrer system is used to make the test volume of the reverberation chamber continuously changing by changing the volume resonance condition to achieve the purpose of reverberation. One of the main features of this technology compared to  conventional stirrer system is that it can achieve a larger effective test volume within the same chamber interior dimension. And the oscillating wall is designed for a standard rectangular shielded room, so it can be widely used in EMC testing while ensuring a high shielding effectiveness environment. The movement of the oscillating wall is repeatable, thus allowing repeatability of the oscillating cycle and having the same function as the conventional reverberation chamber in the immunity test. It can fulfil the requirements of IEC61000-4-21, MIL-STD-461 and DO-160G.

External shielding dimension: 6.4m*4.05m*3.15m (LxWxH).

The test volume is not less than: 3.5m*3.0m*2.0m (LxWxH).

The shielding effectiveness (SE): according to the latest EN50147-1 and GB12190, in the frequency range of 10 kHz~18 GHz, the shielding effectiveness fully fulfils the standard:

Field uniformity (FU): according to the latest IEC6100-4-21, in the frequency range of 180MHz~18GHz. When the frequency is higher than 400MHz, the standard deviation of the field is less than 3dB; when the frequency is between 180MHz and 400MHz, the standard deviation decreases linearly from 4dB to 3dB.
